Masters of Tap, Performances

Sam Weber

Here is Sam Weber’s response to the question, “What tap dancer has had the biggest influence on you?

“I could go on and on about all the tap dancers who have inspired and influenced me, but if I were to narrow it down to one, it would have to be my teacher, Stan Kahn. Stan gave me the foundation and the tools that enabled me to learn from people like Honi Coles, Eddie Brown, Steve Condos, Jimmy Slyde and others. And it was more than just a foundation. It was a comprehensive education not only in tap dance but in dance in general. Stan was one of the greatest dance teachers I’ve ever known. And, like all of the students who studied intensively with Stan, I learned from him how to teach and how to continue learning throughout my life.”

In addition to being a great teacher and performer of tap, Stan Kahn also invented a system for notating tap combinations, known as “Kahnotation”. It’s available through Sam Weber’s website and is described as “fast, simple, & logical”. I will be ordering it and placing a review here later.
