Recently I formed a company of tap dancers that I am calling “The Atlanta Rhythm Tappers” (ART). It consists of men and women in Atlanta who love tap and want to perform. We are in the process of pooling our funds to buy portable tap floors and other materials necessary to perform throughout Atlanta. (If you’d like to make a donation in support of us, you can do so on the left sidebar of this blog.)
Four of the ladies in the company recently performed at an event at Centennial Park here in Atlanta. Because I could not attend, they recorded their practice session to show me what they had put together. I enjoyed it so much I thought I would share it with you here. This choreography was a collaborative effort between me and the members of ART.
I hope you enjoy the video.
P.S. Any advice you can give about how to handle the administrative side of establishing a tap company would be greatly appreciated. Just leave it in the comments. What were the biggest challenges you faced in starting yours? What were the biggest challenges you faced in being a member of a dance company?
