The following festival dates are in!
Tony Waag’s American Tap Dance Foundation will be hosting it’s annual New York City Tap Festival “Tap City 2008″. Tap City is an amazing event that offers master classes and programs for all ages with internationally renowned teachers. The performance opportunities are awesome and the shows are great.
I have been doing Tap City since the summer of 2005, this will be my forth year. (You can count on seeing me there!) Last year I did the Pre-Professional Program and performed in the “Tap Youth Showcase”, and also at the Duke Theatre on 42nd Street in “Tap Youth Tap Future” and I had a blast.
Not only do you get to take classes with masters and have a chance to audition to perform for the whole tap dance family, but you really meet some cool people, who in my case became my really close friends.
Registration begins April 1st.
Mark your calendars starting July 5th through July 11th.

Founded by Debbie Allen, the 5th Annual LA Tap Fest is directed by Jason Samuels Smith and co-directed by Chloe Arnold. I am SO excited for this because I will be in attendance this year for my first time (for those of you who don’t know, I live in Jersey).
I’ll get to start my day with everyone during the daily stretch, take classes, then after lunch hear about tap dance history from tap legends who are tap history itself. Then I’ll take more classes and join in the events that are later in the night, such as jams, panel discussions and showcases.
Registration will be available soon.
Mark your calendars starting August 4th through August 9th.

Sorry! The bad links were my fault! The issue has been corrected. Thanks so much for pointing that out for us.

Hi Hillary,
You might want to add Tapestry Dance Company’s Soul to Sole Festival, June 4-8, 2008 in Austin, Texas. We put on a great festival and have a great participant showcase as well as a wonderful faculty concert (with live music) as part of the festival.
Thanks,
Hilary Olson
