“Secret Talents of The Stars” Features Tap Dancers

Hidden Talents of The Stars - CBS

R & B Singer Mya will be featured tap dancing on “Secret Talents of The Stars” this Tuesday on CBS. The show will air at 10pm Eastern time, 9pm Central, & 7pm Pacific.

It promises to be another great opportunity for people to see that tap dancing is very much alive in the United States. If you love tap, make sure to vote for her performance!

Jason Samuels-Smith provided the choreography, so you know it’s going to be crazy! I also hear that it will feature Lee Howard, Baakari Wilder, Josette Wiggan, Sarah Reich, Chloe Arnold, and many others!

Here is a link to one of Mya’s more recent albums:

    Taps,

The show should be called “America Has No Taste”. Mya and friends were great. I can not believe the voters picked a contortionist over Mya. I let Taylor stay up to watch it because Baakari was in it. We were so sure that Mya had it in the bag that we didn’t vote, shame on me. Taylor started crying, she recognized that Mya had talent and thought it was so unfair. At least Brian McKnight (one of my very favorite singers) and the other judges could see her talent.

Anyway it was nice to see tapping on National TV.

    Hi Taps!

I watched here on the West Coast (polls closed already so I couldn’t vote)…I think Mya was robbed! She did an awesome job and I really thought she might take it all the way. Ah, well…just goes to show you who is watching…Johnna said it above already: America has no taste, apparently.

Thanks for the tip to watch, however…I really enjoyed seeing JSS and all the other tappers while also watching Mya try to prove herself!

I too was very disappointed (and surprised) by the outcome of last nights competition. I really thought it was in the bag for Mya, and apparently so did the judges…

Don’t really know what to take from it. The choreography was great, the execution was very smooth, and Mya did a fine job of showcasing her talent. The whole thing leaves me with a big question mark.

A big thanks to Mya for being willing to share our passion with the world!

Thanks for sharing your reactions…would love to hear more!

I’m a VERY big Supporter in the Tap community, AND I though the routine was Nice & Smooth… (Good Job Jason & Chloe).
Unfortunately, we don’t see Tap as much as we should and NEED to :( IT was a Great Performance! Dule’ would love to see what he can do though!! :-)
I will say the other dancers did wonderfully.
What was NOT great, was her Attitude. Check it out again and see WHY she didn’t get as many votes, It would be nice if it was based Strictly on her Skills. However, we know being on a “Reality show” that’s Not how this works. Her snobby “Looking” attitude was showing, And quite frankly Overpowered her performance a bit. Someone should have hired my 7 year old to help her with personality & stage presence.
Remember people we ALL put our pants on the SAME WAY, no matter how BIG we Get in this Business.
    Keep it REAL!

I watched and I was happy and proud that Mya decided to TAP. Jason put it down on the choreography and all the dancers(even my ex-crew) did their thang. I was shocked and amazed that she didn’t make it. I think Hollywood struck again and made the decision for us. For some reason the politics of Hollywood don’t lend favoritism to TAP. I wonder why?

Mya and her dancers tapped well and I enjoyed the style of tap they did…it was classy, sophisticated and not the “loud” 42nd Street time step style of tap which I’m guessing most of the uneducated public wants and associates with tap for the most part. I do think her performing quality wasn’t there, she seemed to be disassociated from the others, there wasn’t much interaction at all and yes, I know she was the featured one but still, you have to perform it! She looked disinterested, not like it was a secret passion of hers. She wasn’t always on the balls of her feet and seemed rusty but the truth is, she probably was. Still, she was the most talented out of all 4 acts. She should have made it to the next round…except there is no next round. The next day the show was cancelled.
