Here are several reviews of India Jazz Progressions, the new show featuring Pandit Chitresh Das, Jason Samuels-Smith, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, & Chloe Arnold. Special thanks to Divine Rhythm Productions for sharing these links.
The first is from the San Francisco Chronicle, the second is from “Voice of Dance”, and the 3rd is from the Dance View Times.
I love that these tap dancers are getting their due. During my time at the New York City Tap Festival in July I got to hang out with the three of them in addition to taking Mrs. Sumbry-Edwards class. They are not only great dancers, but some of the nicest people you will ever want to meet.
Hopefully, this will signal the end of the era where Savion Glover is seen as the only tap dancer worthy of name recognition. No disrespect to him, but there are many other great tap dancers around that also deserve to be recognized and appreciated as artists in their own right…
I’ll save that discussion for a later post.
