I recently put up a new website that makes it easier for tap dancers to discover and study tap footage. The website is located at www.FamousTapDancers.com and features master dancers from the past and present.

Essentially, the site is like YouTube “organized”. I’m hoping this site makes it easier & safer for our students to explore tap footage. If you’ve spent any time on YouTube, you know what I’m referring too…

Just wanted to share a couple of videos I have been studying lately. The first features two incredible contemporary tap dancers, Joseph Wiggan & Jumaane Taylor engaged in a Tap Battle/cutting contest at the 2005 L.A. Tap Festival.

The second is the scene from the movie that most inspired me to want to be a tap dancer! It’s called Tap and if you haven’t seen it you can purchase it here: Tap (Widescreen Edition)

I am still in shock at the passing of Michael Jackson on yesterday afternoon. I write this post with watery eyes. No one can deny that he was one of the greatest entertainers ever. Oh how I wish I could see the jam session they are having on the other side right now!

It probably looks something like this. Enjoy these clips of Michael Jackson & the Jackson 5 performing alongside the Nicholas Brothers!

Here is another clip of Michael full out tap dancing that I had never seen before today (tapping starts at about 1:50)…what more can I say? He is the greatest.
